I just started this series, and it got under my skin fast. The opening scene taps straight into my medical horror phobia and doesn’t let go.

Since reading Bram Stoker’s Dracula, I’ve had a soft spot for bloodsuckers. Anne Rice’s The Vampire Chronicles pulled me in. Charlaine Harris did the same with The Southern Vampire Mysteries, though those last three books were a serious disappointment.
